Arena Update - September 2nd, 2020

We have been in conversations with Welsh Government throughout this period and we have been keeping them updated on the progress with ice rinks re-opening in England and Northern Ireland.

We have visited ice rinks in England to see first-hand how they are handling social distancing and ensuring their venues are safe for their customers and staff as well as compliant with government regulations.

Like our customers, we are waiting on further guidance from the Welsh Government of when we are able to re-open and then we will announce our own plans for getting people in Wales back on the ice.

Because of the nature of such facilities and of other key factors such as inevitable delays to the professional ice hockey league season for 2020/21, additional costs (eg, regular cleaning, reduced usage due to social distancing requirements, etc) and the inherent uncertainty moving forward (eg, potential local lockdowns and closures, potential second spike), permission in principle from the Welsh Government may not necessarily result in instantaneous or full re-opening.

Much detailed planning is underway by ourselves and our partners and customers to identify a safe, sensible and sustainable re-opening strategy.
